About Us

Light on a Lamp Stand Inc. is a 501c3 U.S based International non-profit organization that operates out of Pennsylvanian, USA. The organization was founded by Urfa Aamir a former minority community member from Pakistan who moved to the U.S in 2001. She and her board are now committed to serving the children of the forgotten communities of Pakistan by providing them equal opportunities.

Our mission is to empower at-risk children from impoverished minority communities by providing them with quality education, healthcare, and nutritious meals. Through these initiatives, we aim to break the cycle of poverty, combat social injustice, and eradicate illiteracy. Our cause is rooted in the belief that every child, regardless of their background, deserves an equal opportunity to thrive and succeed.

We envision a future where marginalized communities in Pakistan experience hope, dignity, and inclusive growth. By delivering quality education, fostering personal development, and ensuring healthcare access, we strive to empower children who have been denied quality education, enabling them to acquire essential skills and knowledge. Our goal is to see them secure well-paying jobs and become catalysts for positive change within their families and communities.

We run two school centers in Islamabad, Pakistan. Poverty and oppression are part of this community’s everyday life. The families we work with cannot afford to send their children to proper schools but have a deep desire to see their children have a better life and to see them break out of the cycle of poverty. We believe “Quality Education” is the first step in breaking the cycle of poverty from over these lives. We are currently serving 300 children with a mission to create a bright future for these children and these communities in Pakistan.
